Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art and Visual Culture)
Bachelor of arts (fine arts and visual culture)?

i was thinking of doing a bachelor of arts but i am not sure if i should, it seems that galleries and art people don’t take you seriously if you haven’t studied art, i had a gallery opening and everyone asked me when and where did i get my arts degree and i don’t even have one! it was embarrassing because they all seemed upset and didn’t take my work seriously after that. whats the difference if i can paint do i really need a degree!!?? i want to open up my own gallery so i suppose i would need a degree?

thanx

First off, congratulations! Very impressive showing in a gallery!

Secondly, trust me, I think about this every single day I am in stupid art class stressing over dumb projects I learn nothing from.

I HATE that what you described is true! Art school is DUMB! I think it is a waste of time when I could be actually creating art that I want to create and not dumb class projects. It is true, people do take you more seriously with an art degree. BUT I honestly believe if you are great you can be great no matter what, having a degree only makes things easier. It is proof of hard work, not talent.

It is all up to you about going to college. You seem to know your stuff and are successful already,
but having a degree does make a slight difference to those retarded enough to care.

Good luck! I bet you will do awesome no matter what decision you make!!!
